Community update: Home battery inspections

More Victorians are installing home battery systems following the introduction of the Australian Government’s Cheaper Homes Batteries Program(opens in a new window), and this increased demand is affecting how quickly inspections can be completed.

Before a system can be switched on, a Licensed Electrical Inspector (LEI) must assess and sign off on the work. Installers are responsible for arranging these inspections.

But with an influx of battery installations, inspectors are managing a higher volume of bookings, which means wait times may be longer in some areas.

If you’re waiting on an inspection, your installer or retailer can confirm whether it has been booked, provide an expected timeframe, and follow up if needed to help keep things moving.

Energy Safe Victoria does not arrange or carry out home solar or battery inspections. We licence electricians and inspectors to make sure their work meets Victoria’s safety requirements.
