Energy Safe Victoria has marked the release of its first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with an opportunity for staff to come together, reflect and acknowledge the significance of the moment.

The event at Naarm’s (Melbourne) Enterprize Park opened with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony led by Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Perry Wandin, before Energy Safe CEO Leanne Hughson spoke about the organisation’s commitment to reconciliation.

“This is an important first step on Energy Safe’s reconciliation journey,” Ms Hughson said.

“Our focus at this stage is to listen, learn and strengthen our understanding so that we are better prepared to engage meaningfully and respectfully over time.”

Developed under Reconciliation Australia’s RAP framework, the Reflect RAP outlines initial actions across relationships, respect and governance, and sets out a framework to guide the organisation’s approach to reconciliation.

As Victoria’s energy landscape continues to evolve, Energy Safe recognises the importance of ensuring its work is informed by First Nations perspectives and carried out in a way that is inclusive and respectful.

The RAP will support the organisation to build the knowledge and structures needed to guide future engagement and action.
