ESV honours winners at South West TAFE Trade awards as major sponsor

Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) presented multiple awards as the major sponsor of the South West TAFE Trades awards on Thursday, 6 October in Warrnambool.

More than 220 people attended the awards night to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of students across automotive, carpentry, cabinet making, electrical, engineering and plumbing trades.

Congratulations to the winners of the ESV Certificate IV in Plumbing Scholarships Sam Ness, pictured on the right with Laurie Devitt and Paul Harris, and Zac Lane (not present), and to James Boag, winner of the best Third Year Electro-technology Apprentice, also sponsored by ESV.

Dunkeld carpentry apprentice Todd Robinson was named Apprentice of the Year. Winning the overall award. Todd, who is employed by AA & KA Jones in Dunkeld, was recognised for his hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to his studies.

ESV Head of Gas Operations Paul Harris gave a keynote speech on the night:

“The education and training of current and future generations of gas and electrical workers is going to be crucial to the safety of Victoria’s energy networks, especially as we transition to new forms of renewable energy.”

South West TAFE Chief Executive Officer Mark Fidge said it was so important to recognise the skills of these students in the region:

“Awards like these highlight the amazing things our trades students and their employers are doing in our own community.”

As well as awards for the top students in each year level, commemorative awards were also presented to outstanding students dedicated to their trades.
