Under the Gender Equality Act 2020 (Vic), Victorian public sector organisations are required develop a Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) every four years.
Our 2026–2029 GEAP was informed by workplace gender audit results, consultation and feedback from leaders, employees and union representatives. The plan outlines the actions we will take to continue improving gender equality outcomes across our workforce.
The plan outlines our commitment to creating a workplace where gender equality is embedded in how we lead and make decisions, and how we support our people. Gender equality benefits everyone. It helps us build a workplace where all employees have equitable access to opportunities, can contribute their best work and feel valued, respected and safe.
Our vision is to create an inclusive workplace where women, men and gender diverse people can thrive, lead and contribute, with diverse perspectives helping shape our decisions and better outcomes for the Victorian community.
Our priorities
Our current GEAP focuses on:
- strengthening gender representation across all levels of the organisation
- supporting fair and inclusive recruitment, promotion and career development practices
- improving gender pay equity through greater transparency, monitoring and accountability
- preventing sexual harassment and strengthening psychological safety
- promoting equitable access to flexible work and leave arrangements
- reducing gender segregation across occupational groups, particularly in technical and trade-based roles
- improving our understanding of employee experiences through better workforce data and reporting.
Recent progress
Some of our recent progress aligned to the GEAP include:
- women now represent 43.4% of our workforce, an increase from 39.3% in 2023
- women hold 75% of senior leadership positions, including all Commissioner positions and the Chief Executive Officer role
- flexible work remains a key strength, with 90% of employees reporting positive views of flexible working arrangements
- uptake of parental leave by men has increased, supporting more equitable sharing of caring responsibilities.
