New gas standards AS/NZS 5601.1 published

A new revision of AS/NZS 5601.1 “Gas Installations: General Installations" was published by Standards Australia on Friday 30 September 2022. This replaces the 2013 edition. There are significant changes to the standard from the previous edition.

ESV and VBA have published a Standards Alert summarising the key changes.

6 month transition period

Due to the nature and significance of the changes, ESV and VBA have agreed to a 6 month transition period to ensure industry has time to understand the changes and allow suppliers to build up stock of components needed to meet new requirements. After the transition period has ended, on 30 March 2023, gasfitters are expected to comply in full with the requirements of AS/NZS 5601.1 2022.
