Get a certificate of electrical safety - every time!

At Energy Safe Victoria we ensure that electrical work carried out in Victoria is completed safely by an electrician who is licensed by us.

We do this through the certificate of electrical safety process.

Your certificate of electrical safety is a legal document that makes the electrician accountable for the work they have completed so that you can be confident that the electrical work carried out in your home complies with standards and regulations.

Ask to see your electrician's licence before work begins.

We also audit electrical work carried out by Victorian licensed electricians so you can be assured that safety standards are being upheld.

You must receive your copy of the certificate of electrical safety from the electrical worker within 30 days of work being completed in your home or business. Talk to ESV if an electrician refuses to provide you with one.

This document describes the type of work your electrician has completed.

It provides the electrician's name and license number along with your address details. You should check that these details are correct and file your certificate of electrical safety for safekeeping.

After all, it's your proof of a job well done and done safely.

Make sure you ask for a certificate of electrical safety every time you get
electrical work done.
