Consultation on questions about guidance and effective supervision requirements for Class D lineworkers and Class C cable jointers
Energy Safe is seeking your feedback on two matters which affect Class D lineworkers and Class C cable jointers:
- What work Class C cable jointers are doing with high voltage major electricity company (MEC) underground electric cables, and any other areas of ambiguity in relation to work being done by Class D lineworkers and Class C cable jointers, with a view to providing guidance on these matters.
- The requirement under the Exemptions Order for Class D lineworkers and Class C cable jointers to be under the effective supervision of a licensed electrician when working on underground consumer mains, to understand how the Exemptions Order is working in practice.
We are seeking your feedback on these matters to inform possible guidance materials and to identify whether there are any further opportunities to support the sectors.
We are open to all relevant feedback to aid our understanding of the current and future needs of the sectors.
